Fox Mill experienced a power outage for a few hours, but staff and students were not deterred from learning and creating! They proceeded with instruction and schedules, as normal, using natural light and lanterns.

On Monday, November 11, 2019, Fox Mill students and staff celebrated those who have served, and who are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

6th grade students observed eggs in an incubator, determined which were fertilized, observed the eggs pipping and hatching, and cared for the newly hatched ducklings. Then, 6th grade students shared their expertise with other classes in the school.

Students and staff celebrated literacy this week by answering Dr. Seuss-themed trivia, welcoming guest readers into their classrooms, and dressing as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters.

Students and staff dressed up to look 100 years old, donned shirts covered with 100 objects, and participated in a variety of cross-curricular activities as they celebrated 100 days of learning.

A variety of activities took place at Fox Mill in celebration of Valentine's Day. Students exchanged valentines with classmates and teachers, played fun and educational games, made arts and crafts, and of course, indulged in sweet treats. Enjoy some highlights of the festivities.

Throughout January, all students in first through sixth grade at Fox Mill enjoyed a variety of traditional Japanese games, art, and foods in celebration of the lunar new year, the Year of the Boar. According to fourth grade teacher, Otsuka Sensei, fifteen volunteers contributed their gift of time to make this happen. Some of the highlights of the celebration included a "Japan in a Suitcase" program presented by the Japan America Society of Washington D.C., Japanese games like Kendama, Origami, Fukuwarai, Daruma-Otoshi, and a mochi tasting.

Students and staff participated in Hour of Code from December 3 through December 7.

From enjoying a special lunch in the cafeteria, to creating fall-themed artwork and crafts, students and staff at Fox Mill express gratitude and enjoy the season.
